This is the face and reverse of a War Bond of a type which was issued by most, if not all, of the participating Allies in WW2. Similar to the National Savings Certificates issued in Britain and which paid a small amount of interest when redeemed at the war's end.

Bomber Plane Certificates were issued early in WW2 as a donation to the cost of purchasing an aircraft by the local community. The donor was nearly 15 years old at the time and on an apprentice wage which was approximately 16 shillings per week.
