2011 Christmas Cake. Donated by RCCNZ President Chris King’s son, Patrick King. The cake was beautifully decorated with the club’s logo and was appreciated by all who attended the 2011 Christmas Party held, as usual, at the Levin RSA The Russian Ambassador, Andrey Tatarinov (left), cuts the cake watched over by RCCNZ President Chris King.

Sept 2011: During his visit to Wellington the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mr Alexander Zhukov met with members of the Russian Convoy Club of New Zealand. From left: Derek Whitwam, Pen Moore, Chris King (President RCCNZ), Mr Zhukov, Syd Wells and Ambassador Andrey Tatarinov. Wreath laid by HE the Russian Ambassador on behalf of 1st Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Zhukov who, due to adverse weather conditions, was unable to lay it himself during his visit to Wellington on 13 September 2011. Following the commemoration service, veterans were invited to the Russian Embassy, Wellington. In this image, veterans and their families were entertained to a buffet lunch by the Ambassador, H.E. Andrey Tatarinov.

May 2010. Veterans of the Arctic Convoys assemble for a remembrance commemoration at the Wellington waterfront, adjacent to the Arctic Convoy memorial plaque. In this image, H.E. The Russian Ambassador Andrey Tatarinov addressed the gathering and spoke of the sacrifices sailors from both the Royal Navy and Merchant made during the Second World War, and in particular the supply convoys duties to the north of Russia.

Above: Tuesday 9 June 2009 Russian Convoy Club members were among guests invited by the Russian Ambassador attending the celebrations held at the InterContinental Hotel in Wellington, on the occasion of Russia's National Day and the 65th anniversary of the establishment of Russia-New Zealand Diplomatic Relations. In his speech Ambassador Andrey Tatarinov, spoke about Russia's progress since Federation and also mentioned the sacrifices made by servicemen and women during the Arctic Convoys between 1941-1945. The Hon. Mrs Georgina Te Heuheu QSO, replied on behalf of the New Zealand Government.

Above: Group Captain Ramsbottom-Isherwood DFC AFC Order of Lenin. Sailed on convoy "Dervish" with a squadron of Hurricane fighters to North Russia. Born in New Zealand in 1905 and served with the New Zealand Rifles prior to joining the Royal Air Force in 1930. Lost his life whilst test flying a Meteor jet fighter in 1950. Due to inclement weather, the service was held at the Wellington Museum of City and Sea, in the Board Room of the former Wellington Harbour Board. Above: 30 May 2008 As Ambassador Lysenko is due to leave New Zealand soon the opportunity was taken to present him with a small memento in appreciation of his friendship over the past four years of his time in New Zealand. This took the form of a wooden sculpture, suitably inscribed , which the Ambassador quickly likened to a wave breaking on the shore.  Picture shows the Russian Ambassador Mr Mikhail Lysenko and Mrs. Lysenko with the memento presented by the Russian Convoy Club of New Zealand on the eve of his departure from New Zealand.
